Emily Martinez

Emily Martinez is a Peabody-nominated executive producer of narrative podcasts who specializes in crafting impactful and immersive true stories. Emily has worked with Pulitzer Prize-winning authors and investigative journalists reporting on a wide range of subjects including criminal justice, radical extremism, the opioid crisis, and gun reform. She has produced or edited nonfiction series for Audible, ProPublica, Sony, Wondery, Pushkin and PRX. She has a master’s degree in journalism from the Columbia Journalism School.

  • Advise reporters through research, interviews and narrative storytelling, navigating roadblocks, raising ethical concerns, prioritizing accuracy, fairness and clarity; Shape story structure through outlining and storyboarding and edit scripts with a keen sense for structure

  • Conduct and record interviews with sources and guests in the field and in studio; direct all aspects of a production from host tracking to sound design

  • Write compelling, engaging scripts for the ear, specializing in limited series audio documentaries

  • Manage complex longterm projects from inception to publication, overseeing budgets, schedules, production staff and all deliverables
